Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to root ANY Xiaomi Android smartphone or tablet, this is a universal method that works for all Xiaomi devices.

Before beginning this tutorial, you will need to unlock the bootloader on your Xiaomi device FIRST!  Please see this tutorial and unlock bootloader first:

This root method will work on ANY Xiaomi device such as:
– Xiaomi Mi 9 (I used my own tutorial to root my new Mi 9)
-Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite, Mi Mix 2, Mi A1, Mi 6, Mi Note 2, Mi Mix, Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 5, Mi Max, Mi Max 3, Mi Mix 2S
-Pocophone F1
-Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5, Redmi S2, Redmi 5 PLus, Redmi Pro, Redmi 3S, Redmi Note 3
-Any other Xiaomi device

I will be using the Xiaomi Mi 8 for this tutorial.

  1. Xiaomi mi 5 is not detected on PC, not even appearing on device manager, do you know how to fix this.

    btw, im tryong to root a locked fone. i cannot access it so im trying to root or otherway around, if someone could help me.

    "No Command" instead of rebooting into TWRP
    This used to be so easy in the old days

  3. I tried this step by step ! no errors or something ! Now my device after rebooting , keeps rebooting forever! Its sad

  4. Hi Max! I did follow all the instructions but I stuck in a bootloop in TWRP! Have any idea how to reboot the phone normally? (Mi 9, MIUI 11, Android Stable Stock with all updates installed)

  5. I'm new to this what is the purpose of rooting these phones? Does it allow the user to replace miui with stock android 9 or higher?
